DAVA @ Ritz-Carlton, Bali

For Ms. S,
DAVA , where we had the best meal while staying at Ritz-Carlton, Bali. The buliding itself is breathtakingly beautiful. Too bad the restaurant only opens for dinner, otherwises, we could've enjoyed the view of lush green w/ sunlight.
though the nightview was equally fine. with a view overlooking Indian Ocean, and even the lights from the Denpasar Airport.
very chic, contemporary design. Semi-open-air with super high ceiling. oh, but for whom is not a nature-lover, DON'T look up... geckos were always somewhere near.
my first try of the famous, Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial Rosé Champagne, and still couldn't understand what's the buzz was about it...
Our course menu.
3 types of dips for the bread. the ingredients used for the dips were traditional spices often used in SouthEast Asian cuisine. interesting contrast. and the Amuse-bouche... i'd long forgotten what it was..
Fish Course: Yellow fin tuna toro just melt in my month~
Soup: a new type of dumplings soup, i supposed. but it tasted great! the mayonnaise looking thingy on top worked great with the flavor of the broth.
foie gras! my favorite, always! Pan-fried foie gras tasted heavenly. Meat: Cervena Venison! the first time for me to try venison. We had no idea what type of meat it was when we tasted it. We just knew it's super tender n juicy. and with my favorite vege - Mushroom, yumm.. 2 thumbs up!!
Cleanser: Cranberry lime spide, tasted like ice cream soda.
Cheese: goat cheese... hum....
Dessert: though on the menu it wrote, " MELTING chocolate cake", it wasn't really melting. in fact, it was not even warm anymore. a big disappointment, especially after such a wonderful meal.. Tea, Petits Fours, & mysterious cocktail
i would say, to anyone who wanna dine in Ritz Bali, DAVA would definitely be the best choice!

Le Normandie restaurant at the Oriental Bangkok

ceiling-high centerpiece, fancy fancy~
just being in the lobby, feel like a millionairess.
hallway the Le Normandie restaurant, where the birthday lunch took place.
the oriental monkeys, with good manner.
here we r, overlooking the Chao Phraya River.
The Peninsula Bangkok right across the river.
Le Normandie restaurant is recognized as one of the Traditions & Qualité in the world. The finest french cuisine in Thailand. Menu de Dejeuner, a four-course lunch menu with a very reasonable price, Baht 1,000 per person, about 30usd.
butter with the logo. that's called branding.
cold soup, or cocktail soup u might say.. forget what it's made of, but it was good.
we all had the big prawn as appetiser. yum!
Tuna as main course.
duck as the main course. (personal favorite)
beef as the main course.
dessert trolly.
blueberry cheesecake & apple pie.
sorbet.
Mocha.
Petits fours du Normandie. too full to eat anything by then...
吃飽了走一走. Oritental 的每一個角落都很有味道.
Oriental

Grand Palace

took off from the Oriental Pier, heading to the Grand Palace by public ferry. cheap n no traffic!
locals on the right, tourists on the left.
roll roll roll the boat, along the Chao Phrya River. Passing thru the Wat Arun, another tourist attraction.
monk on board.
an extremely hot day it was, even the monk couldn't stand the heat.
Tuk-tuk waiting for passengers in front of the Grand Palace
a reminder to anyone who plans to visit: shorts n sleeveless top is not allowed in the Palace. so cover up! sandals, on the other hand, is fine. in fact, shoes off inside the Palace.
a very hot day with a clear blue sky.

footnote: again, it really was a very HOT day.
